Switching to the world of CBD after years of vaping nicotine can feel like a big change.

Yet, many thousands of people are doing that switch right now. Why’s that? We’ll get into it. In fact, we’ll get into everything you could possibly need to know with regards to vaping CBD Oil.

There are some common mistakes the average newbie switcher makes, that we want to help you avoid.

Will CBD get you high? Is it legal? What kind of oil should you use? Is it best to mix nicotine juice with oil? Do you need a CBD-specific device? What kind of results should you even expect?

First, let’s introduce you to what CBD actually is:

What is CBD? CBD vs THC

There are two types of Cannabinoids; Cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

CBD is one of hundreds of chemical compounds within the cannabis plant and is a component of the plant that is harvested for pharmacological purposes. THC is the psychoactive element of the plant that gets you “high”.

In other words, CBD is what tends to be used as a medicine. THC in the form of Marijuana can, and is, used in up to 40 states for medical purposes also.

We will focus on the CBD extract itself, not THC in this article. CBD is where many of the healing properties lie and is easily accessible everywhere.

Dr. Raphael Mechoulam spent 56 years researching into Cannabis, only to discover that two molecules existed – with uniquely different characteristics.

The two components react with your Endocannabinoid System (ECS) which are our bodies receptors responsive to Cannabinoids.

They of course react in different ways; CBD being more physiological and THC being more psychological. There is cross over with both elements affecting both areas, but this is a straightforward differentiation to consider.

SUMMARY

CBD is the pharmacological part of the cannabis plant generally used for treatment. It is not THC, therefore doesn’t get you “high”.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD Oil is created by extracting the cannabidiol from the cannabis (or marijuana) plant and then blended with another oil – such as coconut or hemp seed oils.

Usually done because CBD itself is a much more expensive product, and to fill a bottle with concentrated oil only, would be costly.

CBD Vape Juice (CBD Vape Oil) isn’t actually an oil like CBD Oil is. So when you purchase a CBD Oil to vape you want to be on the look-out for vapeable juice.

CBD Oil and CBD e-Juice options are not the same. CBD Oil has more viscosity (thickness) than vape juice, which could make it much harsher and quite problematic to inhale. Not advisable.

Whereas CBD e-juice, has a similar viscosity (70/30 ratio) to regular nicotine e-juice. It’s a key difference in vaping the straight-up oil and the CBD e-liquid. Be sure to purchase a CBD Vape Juice (e-liquid) when making the switch to vaping CBD.

CBD Cartridges are thin, disposable tanks filled with CBD e-juice that are designed for conveniently vaping CBD. They connect with standard batteries and are also available in pod format to be compatible with regularly used devices (such as JUUL).

SUMMARY

CBD Oil is Cannabidiol (CBD) harvested from a cannabis plant and blended with coconut or hemp seed oils. It is not the same product as CBD e-liquid used for vaping.

How Does CBD Work?

Primarily, CBD’s main positive physiological impact comes from its organically powerful anti-inflammatory properties.

It’s sort of a natural (very mild) anesthetic. In the sense that it has been used (in marijuana form) as a pain reliever for around 5000 years.

Cannabidiol directly reduces the fires of various cellular inflammation in many different cases.

It has become common knowledge among many, globally credible scientific bodies that CBD is a very effective anti-inflammatory agent.

What are the Health Benefits of CBD?

Millions of people with inflammatory-related illnesses could be massively helped by using CBD. MS, Epilepsy and Parkinson’s Disease to Arthritis, Muscle Injuries and Migraines have noted positive results using CBD Oil.

There is also a notably positive affect from CBD on some mental health conditions such as Anxiety and Depression.

According to the World Health Organization, CBD does not exhibit any addictive or dependency potential, making it a much safer option than most substances used for alleviating symptoms.

SUMMARY

CBD Oil has had positive effects on a range of inflammation-related illnesses; from MS, Epilepsy, Parkinson’s Disease and Arthritis to Muscle Injuries and Migraines. It is also notably useful in treating Anxiety and Depression.

What are the Side-Effects of CBD?

There are few reported harmful incidents from CBD use. There are also no CBD-related deaths in recorded history.

That being said, there are some potential side effects that are worth noting:

Drowsiness – it differs, person to person and dose to dose. However, CBD can impact your alertness and cause you to feel sleepy. This is part of why people use it (to relax). We recommend not operating any heavy machinery, driving, or engaging in any activity that requires concentration for safety reasons, while using CBD.

Fatigue – most likely caused by long term use, and dependent on varying factors, but there are some reported cases to be aware of.

Diarrhea – we’re not sure how common this side effect is, but this could be due to how CBD (like Grapefruit Juice) interacts with a group of enzymes important for drug metabolism.

Consult a Physician if you already take medications prescribed by a doctor, make sure you consult them ahead of combining existing prescriptions with CBD.

SUMMARY

There are few reported incidents, and no recorded deaths from CBD. However, some side-effects have been reported including drowsiness, fatigue and less frequently, diarrhea.

Vaping Leaps Forward

Suddenly taking a puff on your vape mod has completely different results. Rather than a nice, sweet hit of nicotine, you could be getting a hit of medicine as well, or instead. Which is a huge part of the motivation of why people are making the switch.

Vaping CBD is a passive way to effectively dose the helpful plant regularly without having to get into a routine of oil-dropping under the tongue. You can include it in your daily vaping ritual as is.

SUMMARY

Vaping CBD is an easy, passive way to use CBD without having to “oil-drop”.

Legal Status of CBD from Hemp

CBD derived from Hemp was actually federally decriminalized by the Trump administration. The President signed the December 2018 farm bill which had the use of industrial hemp, legalized.

The plant had been banned for decades under a general cannabis prohibition. The bill received bi-partisan support in Congress, and subsequently the FDA approved it for use in “lawful marketing”.

Added CBD concentrate is still not federally approved, and THC is still federally banned in interstate business relations. Cannabis plants must contain less than 0.3% THC in order to be classed as Hemp, and therefore dealt with by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and not the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Quite a groundbreaking development. For the first time, the farmers are in control of the crop the same way any ordinary agricultural farmer would be.

SUMMARY

CBD derived from Hemp was federally decriminalized by the Trump administration in December 2018. Cannabis plants must contain less than 0.3% THC in order to be classed as Hemp.

Legal Status of CBD from Marijuana

The FDA has not approved all CBD extract, only Hemp-derived products. In other words, CBD that is in regulatory alignment with the bill, is fine.

CBD that is produced in another setting or has varying compounds within it, particularly those with even a little percentage of THC, is still not federally approved for use.

Administering THC content is still a criminal offense under federal law. None-the-less, this general direction is a huge step nationally.

47 of 50 States have all CBD legally accessible. If you live in South Dakota, Idaho or Nebraska, sadly most CBD products will not be available to you.

Luckily, the Trump administration’s amendment on the farm bill means that there is still Hemp-derived CBD oil available – as far as it is federally legitimized.

SUMMARY

CBD from Marijuana (notable THC content) is not federally legal. Most CBD is however, available in 47 of 50 states, medically in most cases, and recreationally in others. Research your state laws before purchasing a product.

Choosing CBD Vape Juice & Mixing E-Liquids

It is best to ensure you’re using e-liquid specifically made for vaping, and not an oil-based product.

They should be made from food-grade ingredients such as PG, VG and CBD extract. Otherwise, it’s likely oil – not e-juice and therefore not suitable for inhalation. It should clearly be stated on the product, so be sure to check.

Something to consider when mixing is; if you switched to vaping from smoking, then you switched because you were likely hooked on smoking. Hooked on nicotine.

So, it may be counterproductive to switch from nicotine purely to CBD, especially if you were a heavy-duty smoker and are a heavy-duty vaper as a result.

You don’t want to get tempted back into the land of tobacco. A mixture of the two elements can work, and indeed does work quite well for many.

The boost of the standard e-juice nicotine hit combined with the refreshingly healthier CBD hit is quite a combo.

SUMMARY

‘CBD Vape Oil’ is actually ‘CBD Vape Juice’ (e-liquid). This is an important differentiation when purchasing the product. CBD e-juice is made with food-grade ingredients like most vape juice, and can be mixed with your standard nicotine (or non-nicotine) e-liquid.

Dosage: What mg of CBD should you take?

Different to choosing VG vs PG for example when ordinarily vaping. CBD offers a relaxing and possibly even sedative effect, so the mg is important to note.

Choosing a dosage is a very individual affair. It’s unique to body type, weight, diet and most importantly, your metabolism and Endocannabinoid System (ECS).

It would be worth starting low and working your way up the mg’s. If you were to vape a 30 mg pen for example, you’d likely take in 0.5 mg per puff.

The average user maybe vapes 30 mg per day, in which case a vape pen wouldn’t be the optimal solution for you.

There are strengths of up to 5000 mg available online and in stores. These are useful for those that vape CBD for chronic pain issues and inflammation.

The average experienced user would probably use a 1000 mg bottle for their mod and add amounts according to taste.

SUMMARY

Dosage differs upon your needs. An experienced CBD vaper probably vapes around 30 mg a day. 1000 mg being a common choice for a bottle of e-juice.

Best CBD Vape Device

There are many CBD-specific devices you could use, and there are devices that work for any e-juice.

It is dependent on your needs; are you vaping a lot? If so, get a vape mod and some CBD e-juice. Are you a light vaper, perhaps only a social vaper? Then a disposable pen may be perfect for you.

CBDfx and Nu-X disposable pens are commonly used for beginners.

If you want to vape a lot of CBD, then getting some good e-liquid for vape mods are the way forward, you can see what our recommendations are for best vape pens and best mods.

Vaping CBD seems to work well with a 0.6 ohm or 0.8 ohm mesh coil. Avoid ceramic coils where possible.

SUMMARY

Your standard mod used for vaping nicotine will work with CBD e-juice. Casual or social smokers may find a disposable pen such as CBDfx or N-uX are suitable.

CBD vape oil, or rather CBD e-juice, is becoming as common as regular nicotine e-liquid. There is some form of CBD vape juice available anywhere in the country, and all CBD products are now accessible to most of the country. It shouldn’t be a difficult switch, and there are some things to consider (as stated above) but overall, it could be beneficial for your health.
