How to choose the best CBD vape oil
1. Extract type
CBD vape liquid’s effects are almost immediate. Why not purchase a superior CBD e-liquid with an equally superior CBD hemp extract? Full-spectrum hemp extract is recommended here. You inhale a full range of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other beneficial plant compounds all in one sitting. These plant compounds work together in synergy, especially with the trace THC content.

2. CBD e-juice ingredients and thinning agents
The main thinning agents used in CBD e-liquid are vegetable glycerin (VG) and propylene glycol (PG).
Depending on the ratio, you get a very different vaping experience. VG-heavy CBD juice is thinner and smoother to vape. PG-heavy juice is thicker with a harsher throat hit. Check CBD brand’s product pages to see the ratio used in your chosen liquid.
3. Flavor options
CBD vape oils come in many different flavors. You’re not stuck with just one or two options. Perfect if you’re sweet-toothed and prefer fruitier, more delicious flavors and tastes. Some flavors are better than others. Of course, this is subjective, so we can only recommend what we like and what we believe translate well into a CBD vape liquid.

Keep in mind: Flavorings don’t 100% mask the taste of natural hemp extract. There is a slightly grassy, earthy flavor.
4. Bottle size
CBD vape juice bottle size is important. You should determine how much you think you might vape (or how much you already vape). The size of your vape pen or vape kit is crucial here too. No point in purchasing a 10 mL bottle if you vape constantly. It’ll last you a day (if that).
If you’re a heavy vape user, purchase in bulk or buy a 100 mL bottle which should last you anywhere between 2-4 weeks. If you’re a beginner, purchase a 30 mL bottle. More than enough to carry you through for a month or so, saving you money at the same time.
5. Extraction method
CBD vape oils benefit from CO2 extracted hemp extracts. They’re amazingly clean and pure, guaranteeing the lowest amount of contaminants. This is ideal, especially when you’re inhaling the CBD oil. You want safe products free from harmful toxins.
6. Third-party testing
Third-party testing is crucial. All CBD e-liquids must be tested before they’re put on sale. It guarantees purity, legality, and overall safety. Without testing, who knows what’s in the product?
All testing must be conducted via accredited, independent laboratories. CBD brands must not be affiliated with the lab. Unbiased testing protects you as a consumer, providing you with accurate results.

7. Does your vape pen/vape rig work with your juice?
Thickness (viscosity) of your CBD vape juice is worth keeping in mind. Some CBD vape pens or kits might be unsuitable for certain CBD liquids. Certain coils, for example, can only handle thinner e-liquids, while others are better for thicker liquids.
Coils with higher resistance (1 ohm or above) are ideal for thinner high-PG CBD vape oils. Coils with lower resistance (below 1 ohm) are ideal for thicker PG-heavy CBD vape oils.
8. CBD vape oil appearance
Clean CBD vape oil should be clear yellow or see-through. If it’s not, it may have gone out of date or damaged by certain environmental elements.
If the liquid is bubbly or cloudy, it might be damaged by too much oxygen exposure.
If it has turned a slight shade of pink or purple, both light and air exposure may have caused this.
We recommend you purchase a new one if this is the case. The potency and overall strength of the juice have probably diminished significantly.
9. Storing your CBD e-juice
Similar to CBD oils, CBD vape juice has an expiry date. Usually 12-24 months with proper storage. Light (UV or otherwise), heat, and air degrade CBD over time. UV light and heat are the worst culprits. Make sure you store your CBD vape juice in a cool, dry, and dark area. We recommend:
- Pantry
- Bedroom drawer
- Purse or backpack (sat upright to avoid leakage)
Keep it away from direct sunlight (near windows, etc), high temperatures (kitchen drawers near oven), and moisture (bathrooms, etc). Keep the lid on tight.
10. Disposable vape pen vs. refillable pen vs vape mod
Disposable vape pens require no pre-purchased CBD e-liquid. It comes pre-filled and ready to use. Convenient for beginners with no experience vaping CBD. Throw away once the liquid or battery runs out.
Refillable vape pens require your own CBD e-liquid. The refillable tanks usually carry 1.0-1.5 mL (sometimes more). Filled to the top, this lasts roughly 500-800 puffs. Liquid viscosity and battery power determine how many puffs you get. Thin CBD juice will vaporize faster than thicker liquid. Thick CBD juice won’t vaporize as quickly but requires low resistance coils to avoid residual clogging the filter and wick. We recommend purchasing a 30-50 mL bottle of vape juice to start with.
Vape mods (also known simply as “mods”) are a different animal altogether. They are substantially larger than disposable and refillable vape pens. Vape mods can carry up to 8 mL of CBD vape oil in a single tank (sometimes more) that can last you 1000-1500 puffs. We suggest purchasing larger bottles of e-juice if you'll be using mods (100 mL is suitable).
What is CBD vape juice?
CBD vape juice is often referred to as CBD vape oil. Both terms are used interchangeably. Technically, this is inaccurate. No oil is used in CBD vape juice. Instead, thinning agents such as propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG) are used. These agents are food-grade and generally considered safe for consumption.
How to use CBD juice
CBD e-juice is used in either a CBD vape pen or CBD vape kit, specifically designed to prevent clogging up the device or burning out the coil.
Can you orally consume CBD vape oil?
No. In most cases, you cannot orally consume CBD vape oil. Some products like the TryTheCBD vape juice don't contain any PG or VG and are advertised as safe for sublingual consumption – we wouldn't recommend it. Although regulatory organizations deem CBD vape liquid ingredients to be safe for human consumption, this is only in the case of inhalation via vaping.
Oral consumption may cause unwanted side-effects. Stomach complaints, nausea, and dizziness are amongst the most common.
Vegetable glycerin (VG) and propylene glycol (PG) ratio
The vegetable glycerin (VG) and propylene glycol (PG) ratio matter. A VG dominant liquid or PG dominant liquid will produce dramatically different vaping experiences.

The best VG/PG ratio for beginners
The best VG/PG ratio for beginners is a 50/50 VG/PG ratio or a 100% VG liquid. The former gives you a balanced, well-rounded CBD vape experience, while the other produces no throat hit at all (good if you’ve never vaped before).
Be careful of PG dominant ratios. The throat hit can be overwhelming. Suitable for more experienced vape users (CBD or otherwise).
Other types of CBD vapes
A. CBD vape cartridges
CBD vape cartridges are individual pre-filled containers/tanks. Designed to screw or hook onto a vape pen battery. Convenient and easy to use. No need to fill them up yourself. Best for beginners. The only downside is they’re more expensive in the long-run. Only use them for a short while until you’re ready to purchase a refillable CBD vape pen or vape kit.
Benefits & uses of CBD vape cartridges
Not much different from CBD vape juice. You just get the liquid pre-filled as opposed to doing it yourself. Convenience is the main benefit.
B. CBD concentrates
The clue is in the name. CBD dabs are highly-concentrated CBD products carrying very high percentages of cannabidiol. Depending on which CBD concentrate you choose, cannabidiol content can range between 80-99%. Dabs are very potent and not always recommended to beginners – better for experienced users accustomed to delivering high levels of CBD into their bodies.
CBD concentrates uses and benefits
CBD concentrates are not used in traditional CBD pens. You need a dab vaporizer or dab rig.
Dabbing is the most popular form of vaping CBD concentrates. Dabbing refers to “flash vaporization”, defined as inhaling small quantities of CBD concentrates in a very short amount of time. Side-effects of using CBD vape juice
Side-effects of vaping CBD juice aren’t common but do occur. The cannabidiol contained in the vape liquid can cause:
