For many vapers, but particularly for smokers looking to transition away from combusted tobacco and onto vaping, finding the best tobacco e-juice flavor is a big priority. The problem most just-switching smokers and vapers still looking for an authentic tobacco taste encounter is that many tobacco e-liquids fail miserably when it comes to replicating the taste.
Tobacco eliquids can do a good job of producing something with the genuine flavor you’re looking for, and sweetened tobacco blends can be excellent, but all-too-often you’re left with something that tastes more like musty feet than your favorite brand of cigarettes or your preferred variety of tobacco. So how do you find the best tobacco flavored e-liquid, with so many disappointing blends on the market?
We’ve put together a list of the top 10 tobacco juice flavors based around the results to our best e-juice flavors poll, offering some solid recommendations for tobacco e-liquids you can find.
Best Tobacco Vape Juices
This list of the top 10 best tobacco juice flavors is largely based on the responses to our best e-juice flavors poll, but unlike the other lists based around it: we’ve had to exercise some judgment in constructing this list.
We got almost 5,000 responses in total, but fewer than 200 were for tobacco-based ejuice flavors (and the two most common had about half of these), and with so few votes, the order of the juices wouldn’t accurately reflect the top tobacco e-liquids on the market. But thankfully, we’ve previously published two in-depth lists of “must-vape” tobacco e-juice flavors, top 10 tobacco e-liquids and top sweetened tobacco e-liquids, (with the rankings based on reviews from ordinary vapers) and we also had great responses to our best e-juice vendors poll, and we’ve used these to refine this list.
In short, this list is based on the most popular tobacco e-juice flavors from the voting, but some included flavors are influenced by the vendors poll, and their order is based more on user reviews than the specific number of votes they received in the poll.
So, with those limitations in mind, here are the top 10 tobacco vape juice flavors.
10 – Eclipse by Space Jam
This juice may not have received any votes in our best e-juice poll, but Space Jam ranked among the most popular vendors, and Eclipse is a well-loved tobacco e-juice flavor. The juice is actually a sweetened tobacco blend, with sweet vanilla custard layered on top of a Cavendish tobacco. The vanilla has an authentic taste, and combined with the sweetness from the Cavendish tobacco, Eclipse becomes a tobacco-based e-liquid that goes down very easily indeed. It might not be to the taste of tobacco purists, but as a sweetened tobacco option, it’s up there with the top tobacco e-juice on the market.
Eclipse comes in a 50/50 PG/VG ratio, and you can find the juice in five nicotine levels from 0 to 18 mg/ml. A 30 ml bottle of Eclipse costs $21.95.
9 – Candied Cavendish by the Plume Room
The Plume Room is a popular e-liquid mixer that offers several excellent tobacco eliquids, with them making naturally-extracted tobacco (NET) blends in-house. This generally leads to a much more realistic flavor, and among tobacco loving vapers, it’s widely seen as producing the best tobacco vape juice.
Candied Cavendish uses this process on a Cavendish tobacco, and with the addition of some fruity notes from banana, produces a deliciously sweet tobacco eliquid that takes the authentic tobacco flavor to the next level. This juice won a Spinfuel Choice Award in 2013, and was one of the few tobacco ejuices to pick up a vote in our poll.
The e-liquid is available in six nicotine strengths ranging from 0 to 24 mg/ml, and comes in either 70 % or 85 % VG. A 10 ml bottle costs $6.99, and a 30 ml bottle costs $16.99.
8 – Salted Caramel Tobacco by C&C Apothecary
This is an RY4-like tobacco blend, with the well-executed combination of salted caramel and tobacco putting this in the running for the title of top tobacco flavored e-juice on the market. The tobacco forming the base of the flavor is rich and robust, but as you continue your draw, the smooth sweetness from the caramel builds up, made even better by the touches of salt to the flavor. The result is a tobacco e-juice that goes down as easily as some of the best dessert-style options on the market.
It comes in a 70 % VG mix, with options of 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. You can pick up a 60 ml bottle for $14.95.
7 – OOHRAH! by Indigo Vapor
Indigo Vapor is a well-received mixer by lovers of tobacco, with many blends coming highly recommended by vapers on the lookout for high-quality tobacco juices. Although the Duke, Indigo RY, Captain Ron and Eastwood are all very popular tobacco-flavored eliquids from Indigo, OOHRAH! was the only one to receive votes in our best e-juice flavors poll, earning it a spot on the top 10 tobacco juice blends.
OOHRAH! is a juice built from two different blends of tobacco, with graham cracker and other components added in to bring the mix together and produce something better than the sum of its parts. Vapers praise the juice for its sweetness, which has an almost chocolate-y quality but doesn’t cross the line and become sickly; it’s an understated sweetness that supports the robust, earthy tobacco elements and makes the juice an all-day-vape for many.
You can pick up OOHRAH! in six nicotine levels (from 0 to 24 mg/ml), and as well as the standard PG/VG ratio (50/50), there is also a max VG option. You can pick up a 15 ml bottle for $9.49 and a 30 ml bottle for $17.95.
6 – Butterscotch Reserve by Glas Basix
Glas Vapor might be best known for their exorbitantly expensive and exquisitely made series of mods, but they’ve since branched out into the world of e-juice, and have put out one of the top tobacco vape juice blends in the process.
Butterscotch Reserve is a unique take on the RY4 format, backed by a robust tobacco and with the expected caramel, RY4-style sweetness layered on top of it. The creamy butterscotch component is what separates this juice from the pack, making it much smoother than the average RY4 and keeping the sweetness pleasantly-light. It’s definite all-day-vape material thanks to the subtlety of the taste despite the complexity and multiple layers of the flavor.
It comes in a 70% VG mix, and you can choose between 0, 3 and 6 mg/ml of nicotine. You can pick up a 60 ml bottle for $13.99 ($16.95 RRP).
5 – Soho by FlavourArt
FlavourArt are primarily a flavoring manufacturer for those who mix their own e-liquids (DIY), but Soho and a selection of other flavors are also available “ready to vape.” Soho received 26 votes in our best e-liquid flavors poll, which would have meant it ranked as the third flavor based on the votes alone.
The juice is described as a dark, intense and complex tobacco vape juice, with nutty elements adding to a classic American-style tobacco. The flavor has been compared to many of Indigo Vapor’s tobacco juices, and is generally well-loved by both DIY mixers and those choosing to just use the “ready-to-vape” option.
10 ml of Soho costs around $7.70, and it’s available in a few different PG/VG ratios. There are only two options for nicotine level, though: 9 and 18 mg/ml.
4 – Prelude by Black Note
Black Note is a NET specialist mixer, with a range of eight tobacco e-liquids on offer. Although Prelude didn’t fare too well in the best e-juice flavors poll, Black Note received over 600 votes in the best e-juice vendor poll, and they’re often claimed to have some of the greatest tobacco eliquid on the market.
Prelude is their Virginia tobacco blend and the most popular flavor on offer from the mixer. Although it doesn’t have the complexity or robustness of flavor that some of their other blends do – for example, the basma blend Cadenza is an aromatic, spicy tobacco – the softness, lightness and subtle sweetness of the flavor means it’s a great option for vapers looking for an authentic tobacco that doesn’t challenge the tastebuds too much.
A 30 ml bottle of Prelude costs $29 – making it the most expensive tobacco e-liquid on this list – and it’s available in six nicotine levels ranging from 0 to 24 mg/ml. The PG/VG ratio is fixed at 50/50.
3 – Boba’s Bounty by Alien Visions
Boba’s Bounty is nothing short of legendary. The flavor developed a huge following of vapers, with the juice ending up with such high demand that even getting your hands on a bottle was difficult. It’s also pretty divisive, with some treating it like the nectar of the gods and others being thoroughly baffled by the hype around the flavor. However, as one of the highest-voted tobacco flavors in our poll, it’s spot as one of the most popular tobacco vape juice flavors around is secured.
So what does it taste like? That’s a matter for debate, because pinning down the elements other than tobacco in this mysterious flavor isn’t exactly easy, but the general consensus is graham cracker and chocolate. The mixture isn’t exactly built on a high-quality tobacco, and the opinions on it are mixed to say the least, but the flavor is definitely unique, and many vapers can’t get enough of it.
Alien Visions reformulated the flavor after some inconsistent batches to try to bring it back to its former glory, and now it's back on sale direct from their site. You can pick it up in bottles ranging from 6 ml to 100 ml (at $4.20 to $45), with a 30 ml bottle costing $15, and it's available in six nicotine levels between 0 and 24 mg/ml.
2 – Tribeca by Halo
Halo’s Tiki Juice (since discontinued) was the highest-voted tobacco flavor in our overall e-juice poll, and Halo themselves did very well in our poll of the best e-juice vendors, but it’s safe to say that Tribeca is by far their most popular flavor. Although it only received a handful of votes, it’s one of the most well-known tobacco e-liquids on the market, and many would class it as the best tobacco vape juice you can find.
Tribeca can be most simply described as an RY4 e-juice – a mixture of tobacco, caramel and vanilla – but as with any version of the classic tobacco juice, Tribeca definitely has its own unique character. The caramel and vanilla notes are quite light, playing second-fiddle to the base of tobacco, but being present enough to keep the flavor smooth, sweet and delicious. This isn’t one for lovers of pure tobacco, nor for those who like a heavily sweetened blend, but it’s perfect for vapers who find themselves somewhere between those two extremes.
Tribeca is available in five nicotine levels from 0 to 24 mg/ml and you can pick up a 7 ml bottle for $5.99 or a 30 ml bottle for $19.99.
1 – Deadly Sin by Good Life Vapor
Good Life Vapor fared exceptionally well in our best e-juice vendors poll – making it into the top 20 vendors on the market – and Deadly Sin specifically was the second highest-voted tobacco e-juice on our best e-juice poll, leaving it as a definite contender for the best tobacco e-juice on the market. Good Life Vapor has an excellent range of tobacco juices, with El Kamino being another widely-loved blend from the mixer.
Deadly Sin is a sweet, bakery-style tobacco blend, with comparisons to everything from cookies and cakes to crispy treats and cinnamon buns. The result is a flavor that might not be to the tastes of tobacco purists, but offers a beautiful balance between the sweetness and bakery elements and the underlying tobacco, turning an often-maligned e-juice flavor into something even non-tobacco-loving vapers can enjoy.
Deadly Sin is available in six nicotine levels (from 0 to 24 mg/ml), comes in a 70 % VG mix, and a 30 ml bottle costs $15, with 10, 50 and 100 ml bottles also available.
Best Tobacco E-Juice Flavors (As Recommended by ECR Staff)
If you’re looking for some more options to help you find the best tobacco vape juice for your tastes, we’ve compiled a separate set of recommendations based on the favorite tobacco juice flavors of our staff here at ECR. So here are 10 more excellent tobacco juices to consider:
10 – Caramel Tobacco by No Hype
No Hype’s Caramel Tobacco is an RY4-style tobacco that goes heavy on the sweetness without losing the tobacco flavor at its core. RY4s often work better than standard tobaccos because the caramel adds another element to the basic flavor, and this is a particularly well-executed blend that’s one of our favorite RY4 tobacco e-liquids. As the brand name suggests: it gets right to the point with no hype and no nonsense. It has a 70% VG mix and comes in either 3 or 6 mg/ml of tobacco. You can only pick up huge 120 ml bottles, but at $35.95 they’re a fantastic deal.
9 – Creamy Tobacco by Solace Vapor
Creamy Tobacco from Solace Vapor combines a basic tobacco flavor with nuts, vanilla and a creamy custard base to set it apart from most of the options on the market. The result is a tobacco that gives you just enough of the core flavor to satisfy, but builds on it with smoother, sweeter flavor components that gives the whole thing an almost dessert-like taste. This isn’t one for just-switching smokers, but if you want an interesting take on tobacco, it’s a great choice. It’s a salt nicotine juice, so it has a 50/50 PG/VG mix and options of 30 or 50 mg/ml of nicotine. It’s $8.95 for a 15 ml bottle.
8 – American Patriots by Naked 100
Naked 100 is a great mixer with an impressive line-up of flavors, but their standout tobacco option is American Patriots. This is a straightforward tobacco e-juice, ideal for smokers looking for something to smoothly transition onto or vapers looking for an authentic tobacco flavor. The tobacco is rich and robust, but it goes down impressively smoothly and really hits the spot if you want a straight-up tobacco. It comes in 65% VG, and 0, 3, 6 or 12 mg/ml of tobacco. A 60 ml bottle costs $17.95.
7 – Sweet Tobacco by I Love Salts
The I Love Salts range from Mad Hatter brings their flavor-crafting expertise to a line-up of high-nicotine juices designed for pod style devices. Sweet Tobacco does exactly what you’d expect from the name: offering a smooth, well-executed tobacco backed up with sweeter elements in the form of a touch of vanilla and a custard backing. It has a 50/50 PG/VG ratio so it works in pod devices, and you can pick it up in 25 or 50 mg/ml of nicotine. A 30 ml bottle costs $13.99.
6 – Vanilla Tobacco Granola by Yogi
Yogi E-Liquid prides itself on unique flavor combinations, and their entry onto our top tobacco flavors list is a perfect example of that. It builds on a base of cured tobacco with elements of vanilla and some extra character from a honey-glazed granola flavor. This won’t be like any tobacco e-juice you’ve tasted before, but the flavors come together wonderfully to create a multi-layered tobacco flavor you keep coming back to. It comes in 70% VG, with 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine available. It costs $14.95 for a 60 ml bottle.
5 – Absinthe Tobacco by Element Tobacconist
The tobacconist line from Element sees the mixer turning their hand to tobacco flavors, and although all of the juices have something going for them, Absinthe Tobacco is our pick for one of the best tobacco vape juice flavors on the market. The tobacco base is well-executed, but the slightly-sweet, aniseed flavor from the absinthe that really takes over on the exhale is what sets it apart. It has an 80% VG mix and nicotine strengths of 0, 3 and 6 mg/ml. It costs $24.95 for a 60 ml bottle.
4 – Tribeca by Halo
This juice earned a spot on the main list, but it’s definitely worth another mention here because it still holds a special place for us here at ECR as one of our favorite RY4 tobacco e-liquids. The flavor has the generic mix of tobacco, caramel and vanilla, but the mix is just right, giving you a constant undercurrent of tobacco colored perfectly by the sweeter elements and producing a juice you just want to keep coming back to. Tribeca costs $19.99 for a 30 ml bottle. Read our full review of Halo e-liquids.
3 – Havana Beach by VaporFi
VaporFi has something for everybody in its line-up, but Havana Beach comes from the Grand Reserve line, and lives up to the auspicious name. It’s a tobacco flavor with a difference, starting with a mild black tobacco flavor but quickly overtaken by hazelnut, cream and caramel options that make the whole juice something like a creamy, slightly coffee-ish RY4 blend. It’s definitely one to taste for yourself. It’s a max VG blend with nicotine strengths up to 18 mg/ml. A 60 ml bottle costs $25.99.
2 – Eclipse by Space Jam
Space Jam’s Eclipse was featured on the main list, but it’s another that would also rank among our picks for the best tobacco vape juice here at ECR. The slightly sweet Cavendish tobacco blend works perfectly alongside the vanilla custard, creating a flavor that’s both rich and smooth, with just the right level of sweetness but still maintaining just enough of the authentic taste backing it up to please tobacco lovers. The juice costs $21.95 for a 30 ml bottle.
1 – Sonata by Black Note
Black Note’s Prelude made the main list – and we’d really want to include it here too – but the tobacco specialist mixer has plenty of excellent tobaccos on offer, and Sonata is our next-favorite, offering the naturally-sweet flavor of Cavendish tobacco. As a NET e-liquid, the flavors are all robust and authentic, but the dark Virginia base of this adds some much-needed complexity to the mix to accompany the sweetness from the Cavendish curing process. The juice is a little expensive – at $29 for a 30 ml bottle – but well-worth it if you’re looking for a high-quality tobacco e-juice. Read our full review of Black Note e-liquid for more information.
Conclusion – A Huge Variety of Tobaccos
Although those looking for a pure tobacco flavor may be disappointed by many of the picks on this list (I’d recommend checking out our natural tobaccos list if you count yourself among these), our list of the top tobacco e-juice flavors reflects the huge variety in tobacco e-liquids available on the market, as well as vapers’ general slant towards sweeter blends. It might not be as objective as some of our other “best of” lists – and the order and specific juices included is definitely open to debate – but we’ve aimed to provide a varied sampling of some of the best tobacco e-juice available, in both the main list and our personal recommendations. At very least, it should give you some awesome juices to try out as you search for your ideal tobacco e-juice.
