E-Cigarettes Under Fire
By Ecigarettereviewed Posted August 25, 2012
Electronic cigarettes have come under fire, so to speak. Perhaps you have heard of vaping, which is what electronic cigarette users are calling the use of e-cigs. Most users do not even consider using electronic cigarettes as smoking because they do not produce second hand smoke. Users of e-cigs simply inhale an odorless vapor that contains nicotine. Folks seem to think that these items are a safer alternative to smoking, but users should be well aware that electronic cigarettes are not 100% safe.
Electronic cigarettes still contain nicotine, which is not only harmful to the body, but also addictive and is also known to cause birth defects. While electronic cigarettes do not contain tar or near as many chemicals as traditional tobacco cigarettes, they still can cause harm to the body. Most people still feel that electronic cigarette companies are helping people say goodbye to tobacco products forever.
Many folks have used electronic cigarettes to quit smoking completely. E-cigarette cartridges without nicotine can be purchased to provide the feel of smoking without the harmful health issues. Many people feel that e-cigs are safer than prescription drugs like Chantix that are designed to help people quit smoking. The University of Minnesota recently published a study that stated more young people would be drawn towards the use of e-cigs due to the enticing flavors that are offered.
The FDA tried to classify electronic cigarettes as a device for drug delivery, but was overruled. The FDA is currently trying to classify electronic cigarettes as tobacco products, but have yet to be successful.
